Herring (scientific name: Sardinella) is a marine fish belonging to the genus of herringbone, herring family (Clupeidae). This is a species of fish with great economic value, is an important object of the world fisheries, they are caught, exploited a lot to get herring meat. In Vietnam, there are about 10 species of herring, the most important are round herring (S. aurita) and herring (S. jussieu).

Herring is a type of fish similar to apricot, but it is bigger, skin is bluish, small bones, long, thin body, equal jaws.
